I don’t consider myself a musician by far…I’ve played acoustic guitar for years (although it’s been at least 5 years since I’ve played anything) and recently decided I wanted a new instrument to learn. I’ve always loved the sound of Mandolins, especially Irish Folk songs so I bought myself this little toy.

It’s pretty fun but I don’t get much practice time. Whenever I take it out, Everly needs to come “help”.

I learned guitar as a kid. My Dad played and taught me. One of my prized possessions is his old guitar he gave me before he died. My husband also plays and we have 6 between us.

I’ve always wanted to learn violin and flute as well. Wish I would have tried to pick those up as a kid.

I am a flutiest, I am still in school so I take lessons. I always thought guitars would be cool to play. My uncle taught himself how to play. When my grandparent’s signed him up for lessons, he was showing the teacher how to do it! ? He did stop lessons since he already understood the stuff.

I play flute. . Although, in all fairness, I played mostly in school. This past Christmas, my sister and I had our flutes repaired and did some Christmas songs for our mom. She was thrilled. We sounded decent, considering neither of us had played in years.

I would much rather listen to music than play though. It seems like there is always something playing at home or in the car.

LPT: Flute, piano, violin, electric guitar & bass, until I started law school – and sadly after that, nothing. I was looking at buying a ukalele or a piccollo just to have something tiny that I can travel with. LOL

              That mandolin sure looks purrtee.

I learned piano in primary school. I didn’t take lessons into high school but I always kept playing at home and trying to learn songs on my own. Now I don’t really play since we don’t have a piano (one at my mum’s house). I like the idea of learning to play the violin, but I’m not sure I’d ever be dedicated enough to learn it well enough that I really like how it sounds.

Wow, lots of flute and pianos….I miss the sound of pianos. We had one growing up and my sister played.

Q8Bun- You were a pretty well-rounded musician! I’m impressed. One instrument is hard enough..

Yeah, violin does seem hard. I actually took a few lessons as a kid but didn’t stick with it. I really wish I had. I love violin music.

LPT: Music and dance were my life – studied and taught ballet (RAD) until I was 20. Then university took over my life like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. LOL

I really want to learn an instrument but it’s hard to pick one. (Especially when you don’t have $300 for an instrument). I might learn the Ukulele for fun since it’s pretty cheap, supposed to be pretty easy, and sounds pretty when Tyler from 21 pilots plays it.

I got an Ocarina to learn about a year and a half ago. I can play “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”, “I dreamed a dream” and another one I don’t know the name of on it ha ha. But I want to learn an instrument I can sing with at the same time.

I compose a bit on the computer.

I’m trying to persuade my dad to get me Vocaloid. I’m a total otaku hahaha.

Oh and here are a few demos of Vocaloids:

That is a beautiful mandolin. When I was in middle school I was learning to play my father’s mandolin when he traded it along with a couple of his guitars for a National guitar (made out of metal) which is super cool, but I was so sad to lose the mandolin and I didn’t speak to him for a week! Maybe I should get another one someday.
