Ugh, I made a mistake and while bored at work I was on Craigslist poking around and found so many bunnies for “rehoming.” Now I feel terrible I know there is nothing I can do, but I emailed some of them anyway with an email address for a local rescue. Poor buns.

That was a great thing to do. Rescues, at least the ones I am around look on Craigslist to try and save as many as possible if they will surrender them also.

I saw an add once where people actually thought this rabbit they found was ” lost ” LOL..I told them it was likely dumped and hooked them up with a rescue in their area.

Yeah, except I know they are at capacity. I’m in the NYC area which has outlawed the sale of rabbits in pet stores (which is AWESOME), but that also means that the shelter system has been inundated with abandoned rabbits (rather than people returning them to the stores themselves), and the rescues pull rabbits from the shelters as they have space.

I’m just hoping that they are able to provide rehoming guidance or even tips to help the owners keep the bunnies. One is a baby and I’m sure its acting out and that’s why they want to get rid of the poor thing. Its so cute. I wish I had the ability to take him in, but I’m still settling with the rabbit I have now.

The other thought I had, about the baby anyway, was that this is a breeder or an accidental litter due to the “rehoming fee.” Its really not that much, I paid more for my rescue, but I had that thought too. Either way the bunny is adorable and I hope he finds a good home. I wish I could save them all!

Yes post Easter is always a busy time for shelters

It is still good to contact the rescue though, because besides the space they have in shelters they have foster homes to help with overflow. I foster for a shelter.

I hope it works out for the best !

I’m on shelter and rescue websites almost every day I just like looking and watching Sometimes I get really excited and show my husband an adorable cat/dog/rabbit up for adoption, but that’s it. I call it research or window shopping

I got Stickers from Craigslist, she was a rehome – but the lady rehoming her took her from a home that wasn’t caring for her and was looking for a proper home for her. Some of the ads are also done by private rescuers, so it’s not all people who impulse bought a bunny. But, yeah, it’s close enough to Easter that you’ll see tons of bunnies being rehomed from people who got “cute easter bunnies” and had them grow up on them.

I know! I always make the mistake of doing that. I actually got Cinny from Craigslist, she lived in a house where both parents smoked and there were two huge dogs and a baby. There are so many pets that need to be rehomed due to bad living situations.
