I have just clipped my Rabbit’s nails for the first time and must have held his leg at an awkward angle because now he is limping! I feel so so so awful about it! What would be the signs that it is a bone injury or bad sprain rather than just pain that requires pain relief?

He is still pooping and taking treats and he isn’t making a noise so I didn’t want to rush him to emergency if it would stress him out just for a diagnosis of “wait a few days to see if he gets better”. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How is he doing now? If he’s still eating and pooping and doesn’t seem to be in pain, I think I’d ask someone to hold him while I gently felt his legs and hips and feet by (gently) pressing with my fingers. If he’s still walking weird in the morning I’d call my vet and ask. They might tell you to just observe him, but they can ask you questions to decide if he needs to come in or not.

A bunny in pain often loses its appetite, that’s the most common sign of sth not being right because they are terribly, terribly good at hiding pain, prey animals as they are. A bunny in pain often wants to hide away so as not to be spotted by a predator and sometimes you see defensive aggression. (Growling, boxing, even biting).

Thanks for checking in! He is still the same, hopping with a limp but still eating and pooping. But he is hiding away a little more than usual. I will definitely give the vet a call and see what they think. Thanks again!
