Hi All,  I have 2 bonded bunnies Maggie and Dave, both neutered/spayed.  They live together in a bedroom and have done since xmas eve.  I have now got another bunny Henry, he will be getting neutered next week and i want to bond him with my male and female.

How long do I need to wait until after the neuter?  We go away on 18th June and hoped to have them bonded by then but wasnt sure if I have to wait 6 weeks, in which case they wont be.  And do you have any suggestions for bonding a male to an already bonded male and female pair?  We had to bond maggie and dave so I know the general basics.

Any help would be appreciated as Henry is currently in another bedroom on his own and I’ll have to pay more attention to him for the time being as he’ll be lonely, at least the other 2 have each other.

        Thanks

Youll want to wait atleast a month after your new bunny is neutered. It gives him time to heal up correctly and flush all of his hormones out so fighting is less likely to happen. Youll want to take bonding slow as well, as you dont want to move to fast and break your current couple

Once you start bonding, you’ll want to be consistent on a daily basis, so leave yourself plenty of time. You also want to monitor them after they bond, so if a fight does break out, you’ll be there to stop it, and no one will get injured. Based on your neuter date, it should leave you, theoretically, a couple of weeks to bond, but there are no guarantees. Mine took several months to bond.

Im probably best waiting until we get back from holiday then, but then im meant to be having another female and i’ll have no room to put her. I wasn’t expecting to get Henry, he is only 11 months old and been used for breeding all his life, the breeder was wanting to sell him to another breeder and I couldn’t have it so I got him instead, whereas the bunny in July I have planned to have as someone can’t keep him any longer. Nightmare!!! I might give it a go before we go away, whc=ich will give me 3 weeks and if it doesn’t work try again after holiday

Why not get another cage for the fourth bun in July? That way you dont have to rush bonding anyone, and ive read that bonding multiple buns together is easier than bonding one at a time. The reasoning is because they get to choose who they like rather than being semi forced to like everyone
