I got my babe from a friend because they had to move and couldn’t take her. She lived in a small cage for 6 years of her life with little exercise or free time to roam around. Since I have had her, I have purchased a large cage from the guinea pig cage store and she is now litter trained and free roaming, I never lock her up. I have had her for about 6 months and she is a very happy bunny now. She runs around sporadically, loves to flop down on her side and lays her head on the ground. She chases me for treats and greats me when I wake up in the morning. She is honestly a fantastic bunny, no bad behavior problems whatsoever. However, i have noticed that she does not jump. When she is on my bed she just kind of falls down verses jumping and ive never seen her jump in the air or jump onto furniture. I honestly dont think she knows how to jump and that is heartbreaking. Is there any way to coerce her into jumping? She is a big rabbit and she is probably about 7 or 8 years old now, and up until last october she was living in a tiny cage that she could barely hop across once and I am sure that is what led to her not jumping.

At 7-8 years, she may be experiencing some vision loss or mobility issues – the latter especially if she had limited exercise in her early life.

When my oldest rabbit reached 7, he had some vision loss that was quite sudden. I had noticed he’d lost confidence getting up and down on a set of drawers they had in their area. After I put a ramp in, he was zooming up and down. Initially I thought he was injured or arthritic but his activity level elsewhere was fine. He just could gauge the depth anymore.

I’d experiment putting something that is half height next to the bed or sofa and see if she takes to that.
