Hello all, something caught my eye down at B&M. It was a 1kg bag of timothy hay, but none like I’ve seen as this was green and I could smell the intense sweet summery scent emanating from it! At only £2 per bag it’s not bad price either, takes 3-4 weeks for Autumn to eat it. I never went back to the dusty brown stuff and Autumn runs wild over it, devouring every last piece where as she would only pick at her old hay. HIGHLY recommend this hay, especially for reluctant hay eaters  It is a mix of Dandelion and marigold (in small quantities amongst fresh green grass hay). Just thought I’d share this gem, here it is (although the pic is pretty bad); http://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/pets/small-pet 3rd row down, first to the left.

i will keep this in mind in case i move to the UK in the near future. Though my bun will devour this 1kg in less than a week.

Not sure B&M have moved down South yet… Duly noted though – thanks

Thanks for this – I buy all my litter and some toys for my bun in B&M but I had seen this hay and presumed it would be rubbish (how bad of me). Theo is currently trying to bankrupt us by only eating Alfalfa King Timothy Hay at 8.75 for 1.8kg.

Will definitely pick some of this up next time we’re out of litter!

Seriously? That’s daylight robbery! Anyway, trust me, when you take a whiff of that hay all will surely become clear

Looks nommy. Always nice when you can pick it up locally too, instead of ordering online.

How’s Autumn been? Are you seeing any more changes in her post-spay?

Hi, yep that’s true. I have edited this as her behaviour has drastically changed since a day ago. she is molting now and it’s the first time I’ve seen her do so. my hands look like bigfoot’s after I’ve stroked her now  she is still very destructive but her drive to be the dominant one is waning. I believe this is because she has  a better understanding of me.

Thank you for this recommendation! I will check out my nearest B and M this week to have a look at this. I’m currently having a nightmare trying to find cheap hay that my rabbit will readily eat.

I’m glad this is of some use to you. Yes, I struggled aswell, most are overpriced and none I’ve seen compare in terms of quality to B and M’s.

Interesting!  If you found her particularly contrary prior to this, I do wonder if it was to do with moulting.  We had a member here some years back that said it was like bunny PMS. Pre Moult Syndrome.

I find sometimes they are a bit out of sorts during the moulting also.

Could be, she was scared for a long time after the operation, but still interacted. Now she flops against my arm as I pet her, like I’m a human headboard  guess she knows I’m not going to cut her open again (in her mind she must think the op was my doing since she was asleep). You can watch her blood boil as she repeatedly itches the loose fur away, poor thing. This is her first big moult and she hates it! But thankfully it won’t be long now.

Moulting really can make them grumpy, and the first moult after a de-sexing can be grostesque. Bam’s was, and it lasted more than 6 weeks, he looked like I don’t know what. But he’s never moulted like that again, so
I’m very glad to hear that Autumn is starting to come around. A bunny flopping against ones arm is one of the best things in the world imo

You seem to have so much good stuff for bunnies in the UK!

thanks for that, didn’t know the first one is particularly bad. it is one of the best we do have good stuff but terribly backward ideas most people have here. I have spoken to many who believe rabbits place is you know where (not going to breach bb policy of breeding and meat) its very difficult when you care and love for something so innocent that is treated so hideously by the people you live amongst.
