        Hi everyone
I recently purchased a banana mineral block chew toy to put in with Crumbles cage, and the ingredients say it’s made from calcium and phosphorus. Reading online now and overconsumption of calcium can bladder stones and such. Do you think the toy will affect her? Maybe I could leave it in for a limited amount of time?

        Thank you

        -Mya

Mineral blocks are unnecessary. As you know, bunnies do not metabolize calcium like we do. That being said, I doubt consuming a single mineral block is going to cause any adverse effects. I would recommend not buying any more after this though. Your bunny should be getting all the calcium she needs from the food you provide her.

I didn’t even know it was a mineral block until I turned it over the other side (oops) it was labeled as a chew toy – well never mind that thanks

Sometimes they will market them as chew toys. I guess because they can gnaw on them. If it’s fruity flavored, I suppose a bunny might be enticed to chew on it rather than lick. I know regular mineral wheels (“licks”) don’t attract a lot of bunnies anyway.
