Hi everyone,  I had bunny’s growing up and decided with my son, now older, I would have time to enjoy them again.  My female is named Faline (like from the movie Bambi) and I saved her from someone who breeds rabbits for meat.  Hershey is my male and one of my friends found him on the side of the highway running around.  He is the sweetest bunny and will run right up to you and lick your hand.  The veterinary I took him to said her guess is he is around 2 years old.  I kept both rabbits inside in cages next to each other until Faline was old enough and I could get her and Hershey fixed at the same time.  I would only let one run around the house at a time until they both had time to heal from surgery and then I started the bonding process.   It took longer than I thought but its so sweet to see them cleaning each other.  I recently discovered I’ve become very allergic to hay so I had to move them both to a large rabbit habitat outside. They seem to love the grass and sunshine but I’m having some issues with territory.  I’ll start a forum and see if anyone has any good ideas. Wish me luck.

If you were using timothy hay, you should switch to orchard grass. That is a lot less likely to cause allergies. You can try other hay too, such as oat hay, meadow hay, blue grass hay. Also try different brands, as some can be dustier and more likely to cause reactions. It would be great if you can find a hay that doesn’t bother you, and allows you to bring Faline and Hershey back inside.
