Hi all! My little darling Yuki, yesterday, began doing something odd as I sat with her.

She reached up, climbed onto my chest (favorite spot for her… >.<) and after a few moments, began continuously nipping at my shirt. I could tell it wasn't licks, but it didn't hurt at all (I had a quarter-sleeved shirt on, though) so I'm not sure. It's a bit hard to tell since she's so new. I don't use others' "bonding techniques" and we're getting along fine, and only sometimes tries to run off, when she wants to be let alone.

        Sooo?? Opinions?

ALSO just a little cute thing we’re doing today – we’re making her a blanket because she likes to dig at our blankets and try to cuddle into them, buuuut we don’t want her to scratch and nip up our blankets so we’re making her one out of felt.

My guess is most likely she’s grooming you. Maybe it’s just a bunny chewing thing. I’ve had one of our rabbits occasionally hop up and chew on a sock or pant leg cuff. Anyhow, it appears you have a very friendly interactive bunny!

I dont think its grooming, but its not nipping either. Most likely theres something on/in your shirt that your bunny likes the taste of. My Blue will do that too if hes laying on one of us and then decides we arnt comfortable enough, so he will start biting our shirt until we readjust for him. If we dont readjust, he starts to dig on us

It could be a form of grooming. My Bam does it with my mother’s clothes when he sits in her knee. And he jumps into her knee of his own accord and sits there without being held, so he must like it. My mother has to borrow sth old from me when she comes to visit or wrap herself in a fleece blankie, because Bam will make holes in her clothes. He took a huge chunk out of her favorite skirt last summer. That’s why I have a ton of really cheap fleece blankies that he can destroy all he wants. He likes digging in fleece too.

Nipping can be love for a bunny. They speak with their teeth, you could say. It’s not a language that us humans understand very well though. But many bunnies will nip if you stop petting them too soon or if they want attention. It’s not aggression, it’s more like trying to get a point across (to the stoopid hoomin).

Aggressive biting is different and not easily mistaken for anything else. You’ll know it if you ever see it.
