Hey! This is my first post on the forum! Ok so basically I got my male bunny a month ago from the humane society. His name is Benny and he is amazing and we have bonded so well and I can tell he is happy. He lives in my bunny proofed room and has the whole room to himself 24/7. He has lots of room and he has a cage, a cardboard house, tons of toys and a tunnel. I also spend a lot of time with him when I’m home. When I got him from the shelter he was potty trained but I noticed he would always leave many poops literally right outside his litter box but would still sometimes poop inside and always pee inside as well. I didn’t mind as long as the pee was inside and I would pick up the poops everyday several times a day! But recently I switched the litter to a different brand because it was more absorbent and his litter skills have gotten worse and started digging out his litter even and peeing and pooping outside, right beside the litter box. He would move his litter box to the side and poop right in the spot of the litter box. He is neutered as well and is 2 years old. I thought it was the change of the litter so I switched back to the original but he continues to do this. I tried cleaning his litter more often. Nothing works! The good thing is that he never pees/poops outside his cage where he litter box is. Help!!

What type of litter box do you have?

Can he get his hay while he is out of the box? As rabbits will often poop where they’re eating their hay.

You might need to look into putting a screen over the litter do he can’t dig it out.

This is his exact litter box and is beside all his hay. http://m.petsmart.com/h5/hub?id=small-pet%2Flitter-pans%2Fall-living-things-small-animal-litter-pan-zid36-14348%2Fcat-36-catid-600100%3Fvar_id%3D36-14348
I think the idea of a screen is good! But how do I get him to axtually poo inside all the time?

I think it’s worth you getting a rectangular cat litter box, the bigger the better. He might be finding the current one too small, which is why he’ll dig the litter out then pee on it.
If you put the hay on top of the litter, or in a rack right over the top of the litter box, that should help contain most of the poo to the box.

              Good luck!
