My partner does not get on with Bramble.

She is 5 months old and unspayed. She has her spay scheduled for 29th April (so nervous!).

She chews everything in our home and has ruined the carpets. He enjoys stroking her if she’s quiet and lying with me, but he cant get her to relax when its just him and her, so he gets frustrated. He’s also jealous of all the attention she gets

Although unspayed, her litterbox habits have been pretty good although she’s always pooped on one particular sofa! Over the past week her new favorite place to pee is my boyfriends lap

Anyone any ideas?? Hoping this will resolve after the spay!

I’ve been trying to pick her up when i see her tail go up and put her back in her cage but it makes no difference….Now my boyfriend keeps mentioning rabbit stew

It sounds like shes trying to claim him as her territory. How does she act around him when its just him and her? You said she doesnt relax, so im curious what she does. Itll all likely get better slowly after shes spayed

how about putting a puppy training pad on his lap as a temporary measure? that might keep the peace and keep rabbit stew off the menu!

Thanks, Mikey. Fingers crossed! When it’s just the two of them she investigates him a lot, lots of jumping on and off his lap, sniffing and periscoping. He tries to give nose rubs but she is too active. When it’s the two of us and Bramble she usually flops out and enjoys her fuss!

Thanks, Gina. I will pop to the pet shop tomorrow and see if I can grab some. They might help to protect the sofa too! It may take some persuasion to get John to wear a puppy pad though lol. Thank you

Wilko ones are what I use, they are cheap, and work fine

They are softer than some brands, which might work better when used on a lap?

Puppy pads are also really good for little girls to lie on post spay, they keep them dry, and make it really easy to see when they’ve peed and pooped. I lined both girls cages with them after their spays last year.

It sounds like shes trying to get his attention by doing that. She might have a little crush on him lol

                    Lol!  Oh dear.

I agree with Mikey, she might have a little crush. Its actually supposed to be a compliment when they mark you with pee. Do you think that reasoning will go down alright with your BF?

I totally sympathize! My boyfriend gets jealous of my rabbit, Happy! When we first got her, she was super loving to us both, giving kisses, and wanting head pets. As time went on, she grew very attached to me, and doesn’t pay much attention to him. Recently, we went through some rough times, helping out some family memebers, and Happy started peeing on me, and our couch, all the time, and pooping all over the house. (I think she is trying to reclaim her territory.) My boyfriend keeps mentioning making her into a purse. I am having to confine her to a small area, and start litter training again. At least in your situation, your buns loves your boyfriend, so there is hope they can get past this and become good friends. I hope it all goes well for you.

Thanks, all. It has improved loads – I am now in charge of catching her in the act! When she goes to lift her tail, I shake a coke can with a coin in, pick her up and put her in a litter box on the sofa. Usually she then doesn’t want to pee lol. We repeat this until she pees and then she gets a raisin! This is gradually working and hopefully soon my boyfriend will no longer have to wear absorbent pee pads to snuggle lol.

Im glad im not the only one Arvada! My boyfriend thinks Bramble gets all the attention (which of course she does :p) Good luck with Happy’s litter training! I know how how frustrating it is.
