Hi ya’ll, i have a concern. I have an 8, almost 9 year old mini lop nutered female bun bun. Up untill the last two weeks she had never shown any desire for grooming. Not only did she simply not demand pets, but woulrun off and thump if u tried
She does not have any rabbit roomies to groom her either. Its wonderfull to have a bunbun who wants pet, but the sudden and extreame change has me a bit worried. Aside from the sudden desire for attention nothing has changed. She is still eating, still drinking, still pooing, still playing with her toys.

I don’t think a sudden desire for grooming indicates sth bad. Prey animals tend to go and hide when there’s sth wrong with them, so as not to get targeted by predators. They rarely, if ever, ask for their human’s help the way a dog often does. I have never heard of a sick or poorly bun asking for attention. It’s rather contrary to their nature.

Rabbits can be somewhat slow learners in my experience. 9 years to conclude that being pet is really nice is VERY slow, though.

Appetite, poop quality and -amount and level of activity is generally what we investigate into when we suspect sth might be off with our buns. As long as all that is fine, I don’t think asking for pets is an observandum.
