This may not be too concerning, but I thought I would throw my situation out there for some opinions. My bunny, Octavia, has a cage of about 4×3 feet and I frequently let her out to play and roam my room while I’m there. However, there are times when she will be in her cage and run in circles until I do something to stop her. Is this behavior a signal for something, or completely normal? Usually when this happens I will let her out of her cage for a bit. It makes me sad that this could be a negative signal, so please let me know what you think!

You have to look at the context. Bunnies run in circles all the time, for different reasons. Sometimes it’s from excitement (mine do this when treats are to be had), sometimes it’s from hormones (i.e. courting behavior), etc. What else is happening when she is doing this?

I’m hoping it’s just from excitement! I don’t even have to be near her cage for her to start the habit. Sometimes I think it’s because I’m being active around my room and she wants to come out too, but when nothing is going on and she starts running in circles I get worried. Food/treats aren’t involved when it happens.

My two oldest used to do this when they got bored. They would run laps around their cage until i let them out, then they would run around the room before happy flopping to relax
