I literally have just moved into a new house, I am an extremely clean person and so when I found a flea on Winnie(my bun) I was devastated. I was freaking out, I used a flea comb and combed her like 25 times last night. I got 2 fleas off of her, I washed all her bedding, I do not have carpets but only 3 rugs in the house i vacummed all of them and then put salt on them cause I heard salt dehyadrates flea larvae and cocoons. I wiped winnies room down with Apple Cider Vinager. I dont think its bad atm cause i found NO flea dust on her in any area, i even checked her tummy. I just had found two fleas, I read that apple cider vinager is safe for rabbits. So i dipped her flea comb in a mixture of Apple cider vinigar and water and combed it through her fur becasue I read that it repels fleas. Tomorrow I will be buying advantage for her and DE ( D-Earth) to put around the outside of the house and the inside. Is their anything else I can do?

I will be washing all her bedding and stuff once again today and combing her  a bunch. I am just so sad for her

This is literally driving me crazy, its hard for me to be at work knowing theirs fleas in my house. As I was raised by my father who has an extreme case of diagnosed Obsessive compulsive disorder. he is a clean freak and I am the same way. Should I be this worried? I just want her to be okay. I hate bugs!!!
I would like to add that she has her own bedroom inside her room is a huuuuggeee dog cage, literally I could fit in there. shes only in there at night and to use the bathroom and stuff, but it sits on the floor, should i get it off the floor?maybe put it on top of a huge box or something for the time being?

I know finding a flea makes you crazy. I found 1 on my cat a few years ago, only 1 but I freaked out and treated all my cats and rabbits with Revolution. Super vacuumed and cleaned everything.

Is there a chance the fleas were in the house before you moved in?

Revolution is the safest for bunnies and you can have a vet measure the exact amount based on your buns weight.

I do believe the fleas were there when I moved in which irks me lol . Who doesn’t keep their house pest free?? People drive me crazy. But now I am living there and I am so serious when I say their will be not a single bug in that house. I am also thinking that since all my neighbors have dogs maybe fleas are just bad in that area:/ maybe Im just freaking out to much but I love my rabbit and she doesnt deserve fleas on her, no animal should. Its miserable. i will def be scheduling a vet appointment.

My dog and cat got fleas, bad, we had to bomb the WHOLE house. Luckily Hopper didn’t get any.

You can use diatomaceous earth on carpets or borax, but diatomaceous earth is probably better since it’s not water-soluble and it won’t stain. It dries out fleas and mites and such critters. Just don’t use it on your bun or so close to her that she can breathe it in or eat it. It’s non-toxic but it’s a fine dust so you don’t want it your bun’s lungs or tummy.

Revolution (selamectin) is in the majority of cases very effective and fast-acting, and it is bunny safe. You treat the bun twice in 30 days. If you are in the US you need a vet to prescribe it. If Revolution doesn’t do the trick, there’s Advantage (imidaclopride). Whatever you do, never use fipronil (Frontline) on a bunny. It’s deadly toxic to them. (Not that I think you’re planning to use fipronil on your bun, it’s just a warning that we always want to issue to all bunny owners out there!)

Thanks for the replies. I have been flea combing her all day, cleaning crevices and the floors. Tomorrow we are cleaning the outside of the hoise and using DE around all corners and then us and the pets are leaving to flea bomb. Also getting her advantage

Fleas are awful they get everywhere, if you haven’t used the bomb yet, make sure you open all cupboards and draws, video boxes and DVD cases and boxes of clothes, and if yo use a PC or laptop open them up so the smoke goes inside, good thing about flea bombs they can kill other critters, like spiders, so lift up your mattress and put it against a wall, bombs kill the eggs too, if you have a garden cut back your hedges and mow the lawn, bugs hide in there, they can jump on your clothes and you’ll be back where you started, we used to use DDT spray when I was I was little, but it has been banned now, but it was great stuff for killing bugs,

Do flea bombs kill all fleas and flea larvae and eggs?

One other thing that you can do to monitor the presence of fleas and to kill them also, is to buy or make a flea trap. Here are the instructions to easily make one: http://www.ehow.com/how_6073448_homemade-flea-trap.html. Disregard the end of the article, where it mentions bathing your animal. Rabbits should not be bathed. But that last paragraph does mention one other important thing – after you vacuum, take the vacuum outside to dispose of the bag or to empty the cup, and make sure that you aren’t bringing any fleas or flea eggs back in from the vacuum.
