I’m concerned about my bunny’s poop. They vary a LOT. Mostly they are medium-sized (not huge, but not teeny) and dark brown. However, sometimes there is hair stuck to the poop, sometimes it is huge and egg-shaped, sometimes it’s REALLY tiny, and I think he produces about one or two “doubles” a day. Is it normal to have such a variety of poop? He is perfectly healthy, though I don’t think he eats enough hay. He recently peed red, but I don’t think that affects poop, does it?  And a few days ago he left a cecotrope uneaten. I don’t even know if he eats his poops!!!!!!!!

Our bunny has been smearing his cecotropes all over the floor of his cage.  Trust me it drives me bonkers.  I see him spending a lot of time chewing after grooming his rear end so I just assume he makes more than some other buns and has extra to make his special art with. (sigh).  As far as shape/size I believe its OK for them to vary.  They will have some hair stuck to them from grooming.  The red/orange pee is noraml

Thanks for the speedy reply, Shannon! Haha, your bun sounds like a real naughty one!!! I was a bit scared my bunny had GI Stasis, as I have heard it’s rather common in bunnies.

It sounds like it could possibly be MegaColon but I don’t know much about that. Only that a symptom of it is egg shaped poops. You might want to looking into that or ask your vet about it.

I searched it up, and I see that Megacolon egg-shaped poops are a bit more misshaped. My bunny’s egg-shaped poops are rounder. Also, I think his cecotropes are normal. He usually eats them straight from his butt, though. I don’t usually see them.
