I really hope this isn’t already a thing. :/ I haven’t been able to find it anyway.

I really just wanted to add a thread where everyone can put their favorite Rabbit Treat/Food Recipes. Kind of a collaborative type thing? <3

There seems to be very few online- but I will start with the one I found- I haven’t tried it yet, perhaps I will after Easter dinner is cooked so Odysseus has some noms too

        Bunny Biscuits

        You will need:
        1 small carrot, pureed
1/2 banana, mashed until really creamy
        1 tbsp honey
1/4 cup rabbit pellets, ground finely in a coffee grinder
        1/4 cup whole wheat flour

Mix pureed carrot, banana and honey in a medium bowl. Add pellet powder and whole wheat flour. Mix until blended. Knead in your hands for 1-2 minutes. Roll out the “dough” in 1/8- to 1/4-inch thick layers between sheets of plastic wrap. Cut into small cookies (about 3/4 inch across). Place cut shapes onto a parchment paper covered cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for about 30 minutes (check to make sure they are not browning too much). Turn off the heat and let the cookies sit in the warm oven for an hour or so.

          YUM!
Except for the pellets, those sound delicious to me! (And don’t kid ourselves – how many of us have tasted a pellet once or twice, hmmm?)

Not many are up to the task of making their own treats, but there have been some posted recipes over the years here. If you want to read more, I would suggest you do a search in the Diet forum and in the Lounge forum using keyword “recipes”. You should find quite a few posts pop up with them. Also keyword ‘treat” might do it.

Just be aware that any posts over 3 months old are READ ONLY. I say that because a nice member who used to bake treats may have had their bunny pass away since then, and it can be upsetting to generate the auto-email to the original poster if you reply. But have fun, and if you find some more good recipes, copy them here for our members to see!

I’ve made that recipe quite a few times. My two love it. I only use 1/2 the amount of honey though. And make sure to watch them carefully so they don’t burn. Maybe I roll mine too thin but they don’t take that long to cook.

hm, I don’t know about the wheat flour. I was under the impression that other flours, like barley, might be a little better for them. Other than that, these look nice.

Thanks for pointing that out Diamond. I didn’t even notice the ingredient here is listed as Wheat Flour. The recipe I made is exactly the same except it’s a 1/4 cup of Oat flour. I use my coffee grinder to grind up rolled oats and the pellets.

Hopper refuses any type of “cookie” treat but he enjoys banannas and one treat recipe I made.
                  ——————————————
                  Ingrediants-
A cup of oats (grinded into powder or not)
A cup of pellets (grinded or not)
                  A banana
                  Water

Put the oats and pellets into a bowl. Put the banana in and mix it up. Add a little water, if needed, until it is sticky and forms shapes. Form into balls and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. I let them cool over night and give one a day ^^ Hopper loves them.
                  ——————————————
I am working on another recipie I want to try soon, I will post it if this thread isn’t to old by then. (Hopefully I can do it soon.)
So, honey is okay for rabbits?
