        Hello,

Recently I got a 5 or 6 week old young rabbit. She’s female, and I want to bond her with my other rabbit. I’ve had my other rabbit for three years now, and he’s basically an adult. He’s been neutered like two years ago or something. Obviously, as my new female rabbit is quite young, she isn’t spayed. Any tips for neutering? I’ve had them together a few times, and my older rabbit acts quite aggressively and chases her.

Should I wait on the bonding and just keep them separate until she’s older and can be spayed? Or should I try bonding them now? Also, any adult/baby bonding would be much appreciated. I can provide additional details if necessary. Thanks so much for reading

Absolutely wait on bonding until after she is spayed and recovered. Even if you were able to bond them now, when she gets hormonal it will cause territorial aggression and possible behavior change and the bond is extremely likely to break and you would need to re-bond after her spay anyways. And bunnies can get hurt during fights. It’s just not worth the risk. \

Are you sure your bun is only 5 or 6 weeks old? Kits shouldn’t leave their mother until 8 weeks.

Yes, I’m quite sure. I think the place where I got her was a bit… shady. But I can’t return her now. I guess I’ll have to wait the gruelling four or so months until she gets spayed.

Well, at least she’s in good hands now.

You can always keep your buns housed close together so they can still see and smell each other (if that doesn’t cause anybun stress).

Hey! I’m in a similar situation. I’ve got a buck who’s neutered 3 years old. I recently brought him home his hopefully future bunny girlfriend. She’s approx 3 months old. Vet said she’ll be ready for spaying in about 4-6weeks time.
I did have here down stairs with my male in separate cages but in same room. But I felt like it was just winding them up. So she’s upstairs undergoing litter training, which love her, she really isn’t getting. I personally wouldn’t risk meeting them so early on, as rabbits tend to hold grudges against humans so I’m assuming the same against their own kind. As I want to make them friends I wouldnt wAnt anything to get in the way.

I’m planning on attempting to lite train her
Making friends with her myself (building trust)
                  Get her fixed
Then in time meeting them at at a friends house!

I hope this helps. It’s what I’m planning anyway

                  Hope it goes well

Thanks so much! I’m having her in a cage where my big bun can see and sniff her at like the end but it’s blocked off for most of it, so maybe he’ll get used to another bunny and it’ll make the bonding process easier later on.
