As long as the wood is untreated (no fire stupidants, etc) – the pine wood is fine. Other untreated popular wood that is safe to chew include willow, birch, poplar. Best to get thick blocks — stay away from popsicle stick size as they are more likely to splinter (especially soft wood like pine).

Apple sticks/twigs are also good for them. Mine get apple twigs fresh from the tree several times a week. Just make sure no pesticides have been used.

i have one more question do you have to do something to the wood if you cut a tree down

That mostly depends on where you live. In cold climates apple and willow and other bunny-safe trees that have no pesticides on them can be served freshly cut. If you’re in a hotter climate it’s sometimes recommended that you rinse and then bake the twigs/branches in the oven on low heat for a couple of hours before you serve them.

I live in a cold climate so my buns get twigs and branches directly off the trees. Apple is their favorite but they like willow too.

If you cut down a whole tree you should cut it up and store the wood somewhere where rot and funghi won’t get to it, that way your bun will have good chewing wood for many years.
