        Hi everyone,

I have 2 female rabbits who are sisters and have been together since birth. They have recently been spay and although they spent the first 3 days in small cages next to each other they spent the next 7 days in a large indoor rabbit cage together with no problems. They have spent the last 3 days in the cage and with free run on the conservatory with no problems, happy as larry, grooming each other etc all normal.  Today they had the all clear from the vet that normal activities could resume so I popped them in to their new outdoor enclosure (we have recently moved house and have built a large run area in the garden which they haven’t used as they were recovering.  They started off fine in the run but they have started fighting and ripping lumps of fur out of each other and going for it! Very aggressive.  I have brought them inside and in the living room (where they often have free rein in the evenings) and they are lying down next to each other happy and like nothing has happened!!

What is going on?!?!? what should i do?!?!

        Thank you

The only thing I can think of is they were freaked out by the new area, maybe fighting over territory. I would keep them separate in the outdoor area, then give them limited amounts of time in it together, slowly increasing the amount of time. Make sure they both have enough space. I might even give them separate litter boxes (if you use litter boxes) and feed them on opposite sides of the enclosure, just to be safe.

I agree it sounds like they might have been fighting over the new territory. It could be too that since it was so new to them, and if theyve never been placed outside before, that thought the other was some sort of predator trying to attack them, so they fought one another. If you plan to leave them out there often, i would start bonding sessions there for a while first. Leave them together for a few minutes. Take them back in. A few hours later, take them out there for a little while longer. Take them back in. Ect. Use treats for good behavior, and use things such as water bottle sprays or loud noises to break up bad behavior
