I am a frequent volunteer at my local humane society. I come in to take care of the bunnies. There are 3 of us who have knowledge of buns there and this weekend was the first time we have all actually met each other. As I was talking to another volunteer about suki the bunny who just went home that day she said that as she was talking to the woman whom was taking suki home was sketchy. She was dodging questions about how old her last bunny was when he died and why he died and when she handed her the card for a rabbit savvy vet she looked like she was handed a lunar rock. This lady knew nothing about the well keeping of rabbits and as I got deeper into the conversation with the other rabbit volunteer I found out that the humane society doesn’t interview people like they say they do and they just hand the rabbits to anyone. This fired me up so much because every single one of those bunnies there have an unbelievable personality and the people I’ve seen them get handed to will not take the time like we did to learn about them as a rabbit. We just got one bunny in and she will not eat her salads unless you hand feed them to her because she is to scared to move from the corner of the cage and Won’t look down because she’s scared. New owners won’t have the patience to find out that her favorite treat is Apple. New owners won’t take the time to show her she can trust them. These people this humane society hands these rabbits to are not rabbit people who have the well being of the rabbit in there heart. They are selfish people who don’t understand that with a rabbit you need to be selfless. These people won’t take the time of day to google anything about rabbits. And if they did the interview like they say that they do they would see that these rabbits are not going to good homes. Because just by talking to them their faces give it away that they know nothing. Rant over.

Awh, that’s sad! I always think like that when I see people buying bunnies at a pet in pet shops (Which I am totally against)!

aww that’s so sad! I hate people like that! they just get the pet because its cute or as a present! Ugh it makes me so mad!! Again as BinkyBiffle said as well, I also see buns buying bunnies in pet stores, which I am totally against, because their kids wont stops complaining so they get the cheapest cage, the crappiest food, and literally that’s it! It makes me so furious!

I love how you volunteer, the humane society is one of my favorites to go to and volunteer at too! Their staff are so nice

there should really be more information for the public on rabbits like there is for cats and dogs because in my opinion rabbits are harder then both of them
