Hey guys! Can you believe little Snowy’s gonna be 1 in a few days? (28th Feb to be exact) Sooo to celebrate this special day we’ve bought him a cat post activity centre toy! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FDS-Cat-Scratching-Tree-Kitten-Scratcher-Post-Activity-Centre-Rest-Bed-UK-Stock-/121837706174
As with everything related to him, I just wanted to check and see if it was safe for him. It’s made of:

        • Natural Sisal Rope
        • Soft Plush
        • Flake board

Is it safe enough for him to play with unsupervised? I know it’s made for cats but everything in pet shops for rabbits nowadays are so small and boring and this looked like great fun! Oh and also he has this faux fur cat bed which he ADORES! So we figured this activity centre would be a great addition!! Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank youu

I’d be a little scared about him climbing high on that unsupervised. Rabbits aren’t quite as agile as cats (climbing/balance wise) so I’d *Personally* be a tad hesitant.

          (P.s. Happy birthday to Snowy!)

Hey Moxie, yeah we were thinking about leaving that top bit out of the assembly when we built it maybe until he was a little older but apart from the height issue, any concerns with the material? Oh and thank you!

Is your bun a big chewer? You’d just want to watch to make sure he isn’t ingesting too much of it. untreated Sisal rope is perfectly safe, and if Snowy isn’t a big chewer the plush should be fine (as long as it’s not treated with chemicals, but you should be able to tell by smelling it). Lots of people give their buns beds/stuffed buddies, it only becomes a concern if they are actually eating it, as it could block up their stomach, just like eating too much fur. But that’s really just something you’d keep an eye on.
As for the particle board (flake board) I’d keep a good eye on that. Pretty much particleboard is a bunch of wood chips they glue together to make a board. (our chicken coop is made out of it) I would be nervous about him eating it because A) you don’t know for sure what type of wood it is made of and B) the glue. So if Snowy happens to rip the fabric off, just patch it back up.

So if you are aware of everything I mentioned, it should be fine.

He’s become quite a chewer recently but we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on all of that – thank you so much Moxie!
