Hi. This is my first time posting and I’m posting because my baby got into some papers and was of course chewing away when I noticed that the paper she was chewing might of been stapled. I can’t get her to the vet to be cheched out till late tomorrow. I was wondering if anybody had any advice for me such as any signs of having eaten something like that or whatnot. I’m not 100% sure if there was a staple at all but I’m worried none the less. Do you think if a rabbit came across something like that while chewing they would spit it out? I looked around the area she was and found nothing on the floor. She also doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort but I know rabbits can hide things like that.

If you really think she’s eaten a staple, you should call your vet imo. I don’t know if they’d want to do anything, but it’s best to check with them. A staple would show up on an x-ray. Generally when a bun ingests sth inappropritae you give plenty of hay and water to help the inappropriate item pass through. It’s not possible to say if a bunny would spit out a staple. Some buns probably would and some probably wouldn’t. Eating staples is not sth I’ve heard of though, the way you hear about cats that eat Christmas tinsel or gift pack-ribbons, that’s sth cats very often do and the vet clinics get lots of that.

Rabbits can hide discomfort but they can’t hide their poop and appetite. So those things are what you want to observe.

Usually if it isn’t wood, paper or plastic bunny doesn’t want to chew, I think bunny would hurt his mouth unless it was inside some paper, you should contact the vet and tell bunny that this is not a staple diet.

So far she seems to be alright. She is eating and running around like normal. I checked inside her mouth and didn’t see any damage. Thanks to everyone who has shown concern. I’ll let you know what the vet says.
