The other week I found a medium sized pebble in my rabbits cage. Just now as I was feeding them more hay a small rock fell out of the bag. I use Oxbow Western Timothy Hay.

        Has anyone experienced this before?

How dangerous is it for bunnies?

I doubt a bunny would want to eat a rock. Things inevitably get picked up during harvesting. People have found clumps of dirt and insects in their hay as well.

Yep, just a result of harvesting. Hay isn’t perfect because you can’t just wash it off like you do vegetables and greens that get harvested. If it concerns you just give the hay a good shake before putting it in his cage Whenever I added extra hay I liked to shake it pretty good and loosen parts that were more stuck together because if there was any debris in it doing that would free it up to fall from the hay.

I’ve never really had anything dangerous in my hay, a clump of dirt or a rock are probably the most common out of place things. Insects are reasonably common when you buy hay direct from a farm as opposed to from a supplier that bags up their hay as they seem to have an additional sorting/filtering process.
