        UPDATE: I CAUGHT BB.

I put a tarp over the exercise pen, so he won’t escape. Lets just hope he won’t dig under.

It’s really hard catching a loose rabbit, especially if it runs to your front yard…then runs a few houses down.

I’ll tell you how I caught him.

I tried chasing & running at top speed to catch him, but that DID not work!

The best thing to do is chase them into the garage! Then once they get inside, close it.

        It was that simple!

He ran & binky’d as I tried to catch him, I guess he just loves all the freedom.

If anyone has had a problem with exercise pens, let me know.

(Such as the rabbit digging it’s way out)

I hope that you will be able to catch him quickly, before any harm comes to him. You could try throwing a blanket over him, or you might need help from some others to surround him and hopefully catch him. You need to have a carrier with you so that you can put him in it right away, before he struggles and takes off. He needs to be caught before something terrible happens to him.  A domestic rabbit cannot survive for long on its own.

An x-pen is not at all safe for a rabbit outdoors, even if you have a fenced in yard. And a rabbit should never be left alone outside. A predator can swoop in or climb over any fences or x-pens. I know of a hawk that attacked and killed a rabbit who was in a fenced in back yard, with its owner nearby. A rabbit can also jump out of some x-pens, or climb over them or dig out underneath them. Besides predators, there are also insects and parasites that can get your rabbit outdoors. It is far better to leave them inside. Outdoors can be very scary and extremely dangerous for a rabbit.

I have two rescues who were domestic rabbits left to fend for themselves. It has taken nearly eight months for them to learn to feel safe around me, and one had health issues that I think came from eating the wrong things, including my neighbours primroses, which are toxic to a bunny, no matter how hungry they are.

Please do all you can to capture your bunny, and then make sure that he doesn’t escape again.

One way to capture him might be to leave the door to the x pen open, with food inside. He will be hungry, and once he is eating, quickly shut him in, then get him into a carrier and bring him in
