        Hello:

I have two concerns this evening – something my bunnies have been giving me as of late. I swear I will die before them at this rate!!!

        Background Story

My 4 year old female rabbit and my 4.5 month year male rabbit were fighting a couple weeks ago. Since then, they have not been out together, but they still are sharing a living space (separate cages – we alternate exercise time. Each bun gets about 8-10 hours of run around time) .

        Okay, here are the issues:

        1) My female, Hunny, has been shedding like never before. She has a bald spot from where she got tuffed by our boy Stewart. I bought a grooming mitten to help keep hair out of her digestive system; however, upon completing a solid brush,I noticed more bald spots coming in. In the simplest of terms, she looks haggard. She has been eating hay, drinking water, and gobbling down her pellets and treats like the diva she has always been. Needless to say though, we are worried about her!

        2) My boy Stewart has been going through sneezing fits ever sense I brought him home. He’s had a bit of off colored discharge a handful of times. He also gobbles down his hay like crazy and boy is he ever busy. Stewart likes to run, jump, explore, dig, and most especially, get into trouble. (Love him to the moon and back though!)

Now, as an inexperienced house bunny owner – I am worried about both Hunny and Stewart. Has anyone else experienced these situations with you buns? Any advice on what we should do to help our buns would be much appreciated!

For the female bunny, it could be a skin condition such as mites: http://www.rabbit.org/journal/4-9/skin.html
Or she is just going through shedding/molting- thats normal.

For the male bunny, i assume you recently brought him home… He could have had an infection or respiratory disease. It could be likely be carried from the place he came from. Any discharge other than watery clear could be serious.. you should seek the vet as it could be contagious.
Or he is just sneezing because dust or hay got into his nose.

If they are not fixed, you have to separate them.
