My bunny is under 10 weeks old so she is still a little baby. She’s very sweet and very curious!! She’s opened up so much since I brought her to her forever home. She loves exploring around my room. I’ve been slowly weening her into veggies (lettuce and spinach and arugula for now. No iceburg). Her poop is solid and round but looks like it’s moist sometimes. It is not in a group like cecal usually is. Is this normal? She’s been acting like her same crazy self binkying around and she’s still eating. I am worried because I’ve never owned a rabbit before and I’ve done so much research. What other place to ask than here.

This is normal. Different rabbits have poop that looks different. Some are small and dry other rabbits large and moist.

You will be fine as long as you give her lots of hay and water, but not all rabbits will drink water. Right now hay should be alfalfa mixed with orchard grass and timothy hay. Later stop the alfalfa it is too rich for adults.

STOP THE SPINACH. It has oxalic acid which will form calcium stones in her bladder and kidneys. Look up Wikipedia entry for oxalic acid there is a skull and crossbones. We just are not as sensitive to it as bunnies are.

Best off not giving her sugary foods like carrots and fruit. Some buns will do fine with these foods but others they will kill. Bunnies seem to be very different one from the other.

Okay well thank you so much for the info. I’ve been trying to do all the research but I see so many different things. No more spinach! Thanks very much.

              Welcome to Binky Bunny!

Spinach can be fed to rabbits, but it’s one of the greens that should be given less frequently. There are many other greens that you could give instead. Here are 2 links with lists of veggies/greens and how often to feed.

This was just information my vet gave me. It was the first thing he told me after he x-rayed my rabbit and saw some bladder sludge, even though she never eats spinach.

How did you know your bun had to be x-rayed for the stones?
