We have a 5 yr old male flemish giant.  He refuses to be litter trained when it comes to the room we keep him in.  Sometimes we go back there and find he’s peed all over the carpet in random places in that room.  He sometimes will do this in other rooms of the house as well (for this reason we don’t let him on our bed) but it is rare compared with him doing it in his room seemingly every other day.

We have tried changing litter, adding another litter box in the open end of his room (that he can only access when out of his kennel), he’s been neutered, we’vetried placing more food in the litter box to entice him to sit in there and nothign works.

It’s become incredibly frustrating and we don’t know what to do anymore to get it to stop.  Right now he’s just locked in his kennel which we feel bad about but don’t know what to do about all the peeing anymore.

Is this a new behavior or has he never been litter trained?

He’s been on and off.  We made a mistake when he was a baby and gave him too much free roam – back then he was peeing all over the house.  Slowly but surely we got him actually trained to at least use his litter box MOST of the time and not pee in other rooms of the house – but he seems to feel that his room it’s okay to pee anywhere.  So for a while he will be fine but then all of a sudden he starts sliding again (like a relapsing alcoholic) and starts peeing all over his room despite the fact he was using his litter box just fine for a while.

So kind of but not entirely.  He is an incessant marker despite being neutered too, he is always rubbing his chin on almost everything he can.
