So this is’nt about rabbit to rabbit bonding but with cats so I hope this is the right place to put this. I was hoping to get a kitten but my rabbits are free range and I’m not sure how that would work. Would i introduce the rabbits to the kitten in the same way you would introduce them to new rabbits? Gradually seeing each other more and more? My rabbits are pretty big…maybe 6lbs and the one can be territorial. He even still grunts (and occasionally charges or nips) at my boyfriend and I after 6 months, I’m afraid if he would kick a little kittens bum. Obviously I wouldn’t leave them all unsupervised where fights could break out but they would have to coexist at some point. Any pointers? I was planning to get a sphynx (I know strange) so not only will it be a small, fragile kitten but he/she wont have fur to defend from scratches.

My buns are 2-3yrs old (I adopted them as adults) and neutered brothers

Also I dont plan to de-claw the cat so would that possibly be a problem in the future? I dont want my buns to end up with a scratched eye or something. Again I know cats and rabbits even if they are bonded shouldn’t be left alone but I’m just trying to be fully prepared… or as best a person can be

Is the cat young? Because if so, the cat should get along good with them. The bunnies may be scared at first but then should get used to it. My bunnies are bonded to my older cat who loves to hunt- it shouldn’t be a problem

Buns? Scared? HAH !! Mine was never scared of the cat, nor the dog even as a baby !

I would suggest introducing the kitten with your total supervision until the cat is big enough and with quick enough reactions to steer clear of an unhappy bun.
You can ‘train’ the kitten to be good, with well placed and consistant ‘NO’ commands and getting him to come to you (to get a treat) rather than the kitten thinking going to bunny means getting told off (whereas actually you just want to avoid a conflict before someone strikes out).

(You may be surprised and find that your unhappy adult bunny takes a little baby kitten under her “wing”… you never know…)

Good luck, just watch them together and trust your instinct.

I am not worried about the buns being scared, I just dont want them to territoriality charge the baby kitten. My buns are tough lol I’m more worried for the kitten. I’m sure with supervision they will be fine though. Just hope it goes well
