I have had gingerbread for about 5 months now, he is a gorgeous 4 year old neutered male bunny. We got him from a rescue centre as a new friend for our old bunny Sammy when Patch passed away :-(. Although we don’t know why he was in the rescue centre, he obviously came from a loving home, he is very very friendly and although it hasn’t worked bonding him with Sammy, we have kept him anyway and they do sniff each other through the gate, you never know, giving them time they might become friends!

I am not concerned about his clicking, just really interested to know why he keeps making ‘clicking’ noises. He often makes a little click noise, 1 or 2 in a row, when he is investigating something like begging up to the gate between him and Sammy or sometimes as he comes up to me, he also does it up to other objects. It definitley appears to be something to do with when he is exploring or being inquisitive. I wouldn’t say it was anything to do with pleasure and definitely not to do with pain, he is obviously happy enough at the time off exploring, his tail isn’t down or anything like it is occasionally if he isn’t sure about something, but he isn’t in the kind of relaxed content state like the usual teeth noises. None of my other bunnies ever made this noise. He does the usual clicking noises when he is being petted like my other bunnies do but this is different. I can’t find any reference to a bunny doing this, only reference to the pleasure and pain noises. It reminds me of the clicking noise that some blind people make to know where objects are but Gingerbread doesn’t do it constantly. I’m not sure if it some sort of communication noise or what it is! If anyone knows why bunnies do this please let me know as I am fascinated by him doing it and can’t see any mention of other bunnies doing it. I don’t know if my bunny is crazy or trying some intelligent communication, I will love him whichever of course!!!

Some bunnies just like to make noise. There are some bunnies who honk while they are eating. I think it really depends on the bunny and what their personality is. If you have a very vocal bunny, then you just have to look at the context of things. This very well could be his way of saying he’s excited.

Huh you learn something new every day! My one rabbit used to get hiccups! I heard these little clicks or ticks and his whole body would twitch. I thought there was something wrong with him until I finally figured out he just had hiccups. My other rabbit used to snore while she was sleeping and she’d honky when she was running around. You would never think bunnies could be so vocal.
