Well I think I’ve been away from the board so long that I should reintroduce myself!  I think it’s been a few years now.  We originally had 3 rabbits (2 bonded, one single) and now we only have our single bun (the other two have passed within the past 4 years years).  Her name is Sandy and she’s an Agouti Mini Lop.  We adopted her from a rescue when she was just a month old; that was 7 years ago!  She lives in a lavished cage in our finished basement with plenty of room to run around all the time.

This pic above was just from yesterday.

This pic above was taken in 2011 at our old house.

And here’s her cage setup in our new house we had moved into last spring.

I love her house, did you make it or buy it that way? I have a lil guy that looks almost like her. He’s almost 6 mos old, and has less of the buff/taupe color on him. Welcome back, even though I’m new myself!

Thanks guys! BunnyBuddy81, my husband built all that with NIC cubes. He made a wooden ramp to the 2nd floor and we have cardboard as the second floor flooring (we have to replace it ever month because she likes to tear it up). He also found waterproof vinyl flooring which was a little expensive but well worth it. We have had regular vinyl in the past with our other rabbits and the one that peed a lot (her back legs weren’t working well) went everywhere and it would go through the flooring after awhile. When we first moved her in there we would close the cage up at night but she somehow got out once and I found her wandering around in the morning! So we decided to just let her run all around with the xpen zip tied to her cage and hook onto the wall. She’s pretty spoiled!

Hi skibunny! Your bun is beautiful! And her setup is wonderful! I like the idea of NIC cubes. If I’m going to expand Chomondeley’s area, I’m definitely going to use the NIC cubes. By the way, I love Mini Lops. Sandy sounds like a very loved bunny!

Thanks cinnybun! We love using those cubes, we have a whole other box filled with them from our past buns’ cage. Oh the setups my husband used to come up with before he settled on Sandy’s! We had one that we called the cubert (sp?) cage from like the old game because he set it up with a bunch of platforms to go way high up. It was ridiculous lol! You can do so many different things with NIC cubes. Just invest in a bunch of zipties! lol!! Not that I have a preference but lops are my favorite!

Hi Ski !!!! Oh I love when members from a while back re-appear! I love Sandy’s set up and seeing pics of her again. I didn’t realise she was so young when you adopted her.

Lol. I remember him being Master of the Nic habitats! Like a kid with Lego.
Speaking of kids, how’s your little boy doing?

Hi Jersey! Yeah I FINALLY have time to get back on the computer lol! My husband still plays with legos when he can hehe!!
My son just turned 4 a few weeks ago! I can’t believe it, he’s getting so big! He is soooo good around Sandy, he makes sure he leaves her alone when told when she’s exploring. He helps me feed her every morning. He has her trained now to do her trick (spin in a circle) before getting her papaya tablet! I think he’s a little excited to maybe get another rabbit (I posted in the bonding section about possibly getting her a friend). He won’t be going with us when we look for another rabbit….once you get him talking he won’t stop lol!
My husband said that’s his favorite cage setup. Only thing was we had to put a full ceiling on it because somehow she was able to get on top of the ceiling over her second floor. The only opening was right by her litter box. I still haven’t really figured it out, I just kept catching her up there! So we made the NIC cubes by her litter box swing up to get her box out but it’s a big of a pain to clean sometimes. Luckily we can just lift it up and move it over.  EDIT: I just noticed that’s the old pic of the cage before we put the rest of the NIC cubes on top so you can see the small opening she somehow got up on top of it!
