Our bunny Ebby has been acting lethargic since this morning and hasn’t eaten or drank anything from what I have seen. When my mom got home Ebby was sitting in a puddle of her own urine. My mom picked her up and we tried to clean her rear as it was completely soaked. When we tried to wipe with a paper towel she struggled alot and we noticed that she had bloody/ red urine. What could be the cause or her being lethargic and having red urine? Should we be worried?

Although rabbit urine can range in color, with the added symptoms of not eating, drinking or behaving as usual would to me warrant an immediate trip to a bunny savvy vet !

Thank you for the replies and for keeping us in your thoughts! We took Ebby to our local emergency vet hospital, they took a urinalysis and told us she has a urinary tract infection. The vet prescribed Baytril.Hopefully our baby makes a speedy recovery!

Red urine isn’t a sign of disease (bunny pee comes in a rainbow of colors depending on what they’ve been eating). But the lethargy, not eating, and sitting in a puddle of her own pee do indicate a problem. I’m glad you made it to the vet and it was something easily treated. Hope she feels better soon!
