I read a lot about bunnies nipping, and that it is a way of them communicating, but what does it mean?

I am currently trying to bond my male and female back together after a bad fight a while ago.  They are doing pretty well but the female always nips at the male. I thought that maybe she just wants his attention 24/7 because he will groom her after that but she does it non stop, and sometimes he gets mad and it starts a little disagreement. Neither one seems to be the dominant one, because they both groom one another and neither mounts the other.

Is there another reason for her doing this?

        How do I stop it?

Grooming doesn’t necessarily dictate who the top bunny is. Nipping, however, is probably her trying to show him she is boss. As long as they aren’t fighting and the nipping isn’t causing harm, then I wouldn’t worry too much. Sometimes they just need to work these things out for themselves.

Have you tried stressing them a little? The idea is to upset them just enough to make them turn to each other for comfort. A car ride in the same carrier together often does the trick. Or putting them in a box and dragging them around on the floor.

Sometime the nipping does lead to fighting because the male gets annoyed and she just doesn’t stop doing it. Not even for a minute unless he is grooming her.

I have also taken them for car rides several times which they do warm up to one another but they are starting to get used to the rides so it doesn’t seem to bother them much any more.
