Olly was very poorly for a couple of days, today he was screaming in pain and not eating, he could hardly move, he had an appointment for 5:00pm, I contacted the emergency vet, they said to bring him straight away, I took the top off his cage and managed to pick him up, I was surprised, I put him in his basket but he came out again and went back to his cage, I picked him up again and had no problems with him, the vet came quickly, he said Olly has tummy problems, I left the room whilst he gave him some injections, because if Olly screamed because of the needles it would upset me, the vet was very good with Olly, I heard him say. “That is a good boy Olly, now the next one.” I heard Olly scream but I tried not to let it bother me and thought about all the Thank you cards on the room and in reception, so I knew he was in good hands, the vet called me back in and said he had been a very good boy, then showed me how to give Olly his medicine, then we had to wait for a taxi, when we got back I noticed Olly was eating hay inside his basket, so I left him knowing he needed this and cleaned his cage, he went back in his cage ate a few pellets then kissed me lots of times, he wasn’t happy when he saw the medicine box, he just backed up, I tried to give it him but he wasn’t having it, I tried to put it on his lips with my finger, nope, I gave him a piece of Parsley and put his medicine in a piece of Curly Kale and he ate it, he has eaten some hay and been to his litter tray.

If your bunny is not eating please like Binky says If your rabbit hasn’t eaten or pooped in 12-24 hours, call a vet immediately! Please please do this, the vet said that if I had waited for the appointment at 5:00pm Olly could have died, it has cost me a lot of money, but he is slowly getting better, I called the vets and said I couldn’t thank them enough, we will be sending a thank you letter. (In Olly’s words)

I’m so happy he came home with me and didn’t have to stay

Thank you both of you, I just hope that people read the message that Binky put about bunnies not eating because it is very important and get their rabbit to a vet who knows about rabbits in time, because if they don’t the bunny can die, I can’t thank that vet enough, I was on the phone again to them today, I will be taking them a Christmas card a thank you card and a box of chocolates in on the 23rd of December, we are happy we found a good vets, even the receptionist came out from behind the reception to see Olly and said. “Hello Olly, you are beautiful, don’t you worry we will look after you, the vet is coming don’t you worry he will be here in a minute, he’s just getting ready.” I was upset and she looked at Olly again and said, “Your mummy will be OK too.”

Oh… I’m soo glad everything come out good.
We too had recently similar situation where I saw just how important was that I reacted at once. And just how quickly everything can change.

And also so glad to hire that you found a good vet for him. We also have a great vet and I know just how much it means in a bad situation. And it really helps when you see that your vet is talking with your bun while he is on a table. And that no one thinks you are crazy because you have tears in your eyes when you bring him in.

                Vibes for two of you.

How awful, Pinky, thank you for sharing it, it IS so important, rabbits are not the wait-and-see-type of animal, as LBJ said in another thread the other day.

I’m so glad you got there in time and that he started eating hay already on the way home. You seem to have found great vets.
                      Continued-healing-vibes for ((((((Olly))))))

Thank you sweetheart, he’s doing well and eating, Rabbits hide illness very well and I thought it was the weather, because it has been raining here, I just want people to understand the seriousness and the message that Binky has put on the top of the page is not just to fill in a blank space, I would hate anyone to go through what we have, I had the awful feeling I would have had to put his name on Rainbow Bridge, he is doing well, I can’t catch him again and he jumped on top of his cage this morning and I tried to pick him up but lol, Noooooooooooooooo, so he is back to normal now.
