Since the passing of my oldest bun, I have ended up getting a baby in hopes of keeping my other bun happy, since there was a bit of a way-one bond with quicksilver and midnight (he adored her, she avoided him). He definitely seemed to be depressed when he realized midnight wasn’t returning so we ended up finding a little one who melted our hearts. At first, it seemed like a match for quicksilver and the new bun, who we named bear due to his colors.

So, I want to ask tips for bonding them, as well as ask if the current behaviors are normal. Quicksilver is fixed and bear is too young to be fixed. I personally think bear is female but it’s too early to tell. They do shove their noses into each others faces. Quick silver has began chasing bear and it seems as if in a mean way as quick silver is making “pig noises” as my father describes it best. During this, bear will actually sometimes run circles around quicksilver, which makes me wonder, are they playing, or is it something else? Quick silver also seems to be trying to bite his stomach and back, and bear isn’t making any noises or running, but jumps when he does it.

Well an update at long last, after 3 days of countless attempts, I have now reformed their cages to combine them and they are practically inseparable… lol
But, a question, still chasing, but, it definitely seems more like a game of tag. Do rabbits chase for fun? Quicksilver will chase bear for a moment, and if bear slows down or anything, silver will just lightly nose bump him, and bear is doing it back but neither are showing hostility
Both are cuddling, sharing food/hay/cages, lots of nose bumps, lowering their heads to each other (no grooming yet though). My older, usually more dominent one has actually been pretty calm which I think is the biggest surprise to me. Has only mounted bear once, and that was for, maybe 2 seconds. So all seems well besides the chasing

I strongly suggest you have bear fixed before attempting any more bonding. When the hormones kick in it can be frustrating and even dangerous to try to bond an unaltered bun.
