Moxie’s home-base is a large wire bottom cage (litterbox area) with an NIC cube “pen” attached to it (filled with blankets, toys and food). Her pen has a “door” on it so I can still open it up and she can come and spend time with me willingly. Her “door” is a hanging grate that swings outward (like a doggie door). There’s a pillowcase over it to prevent scratches and it makes I look nicer. ANYWAY, Moxie is like a ninja and can keep escaping! I’ve set heavy objects in front (it swings outward so she can open it by pushing it), made loops to attach it, clips ect. But she can always shake and move the pen around to open the door or create a crack big enough to escape and escape! She only tries to  escape when she’s out of food (very rarely) or I’m in my room and I’m not letting her out. I can try and post a pic of her set up later today. Any ideas on what I can do to keep her contained/make this so-called-door more convenient??

Any advice, ideas ect. would be great, Thanks!

Not entirely picturing your setup. One of the pen sides is the “door” on Willows and we use a large binder clip to keep it closed. We should have stock in binder clips. We use them to hold a blanket down over the pen since Willow is related to superman as well.

So her set up is an XL cage (wire bottom, so half is the are she goes potty and the other half has blankets) with an exercise pen made out of NIC cubes attached. It’s about 50+ square feet, I’m not sure exactly. It doesn’t look too big though because she’s a big bunny and she’s angora so she looks PRETTY big. I’m getting some more NIC cubes later this month hopefully to expand some more.

How nice! It looks like she can look out the window, most buns like that (well most pets, really). You could perhaps give her a card-board house to bunstruct in there. In case she likes bunstruction, not all buns do of course.

                  50+ square feet??!! That’s a football pitch for a rabbit – lol !
To stop her headbutting her door open..?. I can’t help, apart from attaching a heavy weight to the bottom flap bit…
Could you change the flap it so it’s a proper ‘door’ – hinged down the side rather than at the top – so it’s harder for her to push the weight when closed. And when you’re in your room you can open it for her and it will stay open…
                  Just a thought… :o)

Vienna Blue— That’s a great idea, the only problem is that it’s not an NIC cube (I was one short), it’s like a fridge/grill grate I purchased at the store, so it doesn’t fit the right way to swing it to the side. =] I like the idea about a weight, that might help stop her (even though the grate is pretty heavy already! She’s like the hulk in bun form lol!)

Bam– Yeah I do have boxes for her, (she doesn’t really like them though, she prefers being out in the open) this pic was as I was cleaning up and changing out toys and boxes). And She can see out the window, because she really likes that. Most pics I have of her are her looking out the window! lol!

So make it swing to the side…!! LOL
Can you not attach it vertically with cable ties, like hinges….? It should hold, its not that big….. is it? :o)
