My bunny desperately needs to be neutered, and he will be this week, but in the mean time I’m going mental.

He was lovely when he first came but he soon settled in, now he wee’s everywhere, doesn’t listen to a single thing I say, constantly jumps on the sofa and pees and poops no matter how many times I push him off he’s back up ten seconds later, he pees everywhere he can, he bites my feet constantly, digs at my legs, bites me if I go to grab something off the floor and he’s on one, if he spends time in his cage he comes out with even worse behaviour for 5 minutes before he calms down. He really isn’t interested in treats at all, hes not food motivated in any way, so there is no rewarding him for good behaviour. He’s not bored, hes got plenty of space, plenty of toys but he’s just more interested in humping our feet.

I know as soon as he’s neutered he’ll be much better but please help me. I’m slowly going mad.

I doubt you’ll have any success in training him as long as he is intact. His behavior is sexually motivated, and that’s just about the strongest motivation a bunny can have. So I think you just have to hang in there. He might even get worse the next few weeks after his neuter, before his hormones finally die down.

I have a bunny who got into a sexual frenzy. He went from being lazy and food-loving to a hyper-active, pee- and poop-marking, circling, nipping monster. It was exactly as you describe it, I pushed him off the couch, he was up there again in seconds like he was on a mission from God. Nothing helped except having him neutered. He then went back to being lazy and food-loving after about 2 weeks.

Bam, you seriously have described monty there. It all happened so quickly and hes not even young enough for it to be like his puberty, hes 1.5 yrs old, it was just liked he’d settled in and decided it was time for him to be crazy now. He used to sleep majority of the afternoon, now he sleeps for 2 minutes before hes up and causing terror. I’m holding out, but its so hard!

That’s really interesting, Bam (the bun I’m talking about, the one in my avatar) was fully adult when I got him, and he’d been with me for a whole year when this change into a hormonal monster suddenly happened. Like a spell had been cast on him =)

Fingers crossed that Monty too gets his normal self back after his neuter! ( I don’t think the exaggerated sex-drive is, like, abnormal exactly, but it must be so very stressful on their little bodies, esp their hearts. )
