Hi, all! I have two rabbits now. I used to have one, but I got another and I know that the cage they’re in was a great cage for one bunny, but based on the measurements I see online, it isn’t big enough for two rabbits. I do have two separate cages but they prefer to be housed together now. Everything I’m seeing online under “rabbit cages” I think, is too small. We also cannot build a cage (I’ve seen some people do some handy things with wood), because neither me nor my partner have any skills whatsoever in that creative/wood/building area. Don’t even know how to use power tools, I’m ashamed to admit, and he is not handy with a hammer and nails. I really think that they would prefer a little “home” or a “cage” rather than just making a pen, because that is what they are used to. Also, I don’t think a pen would be a good idea because my male rabbit gets into things/knocks things over, he jumps onto furniture and things, and he will most likely jump over a play pen. Plus I think they like having a little “mini home” and they do get at least 4 hours of playtime outside the cage, inside a bunny proof room. But now my partner and me are working long hours everyday, so this cage needs to be big enough for both rabbits.

I have a male mini lop. He is 6.5lbs and appears pretty large when laying down, or stretched out. He also eats like a horse haha and scarfs everything down. I’ve seen small dogs/puppies smaller than him, but I’m sure you guys on here know what an adult mini lop looks like.

I also have a 3.5lb female lionhead. She is standard for her size, a smaller breed though. Both rabbits are adults & full grown.

I know that hutches are typically for bunnies housed outdoors, but like I said, I’m not seeing any “indoor cages” that I think are big enough for two. So I’m thinking it’s maybe possible to just buy a large hutch and keep it inside only. What do you guys think about this one? http://www.petco.com/product/116897…r-Run.aspx It looks fine with two small dutch bunnies in it in the photograph, but can it handle the large mini lop (because he’s big) with the lionhead, is the question? What about this onehttp://www.hayneedle.com/product/boomer–george-white-wash-rabbit-hutch-with-extended-run.cfm   ??

Any recommendations or links would be helpful (habitats that are already made only or pre-made, pretty much), as you guys know what they are housed in for most of the day really matters! I pretty much have no price range, I am even willing to spend 600-700 dollars on a hutch as long as it is big enough for both of them!

Right now I am looking at two indoor hutches.
          The measurements are as follows: 78.25″L x 36.5″W x 57.25″H
          The other hutch that I’m considering is: 77L x 36D x 36H in

Will either of these be big enough for my rabbits? (6.5lb rabbit and 3.5lb rabbit.) Thanks

Hii! Was reading this and wanted to let you know its extremely easy to recreate a home for your bun out of hutches. I will post pics of mine so that you can see what I have done, it took alittle time but a project like this isnt finished in one day! I bought this hutch off of craiglist really beautiful it is, 25 inches deep, 55 inches tall and 45 inches in length , perfect for my bun as her heaviest should be about 3 pounds, but I am going to build levels onto it when I get the chance. Okay, so i dont have a current today photo but i got some photos in the process of it. Now the doors are on the inside of the doors are cut off and there is chicken wire. The pic I am going to post is without the doors on it and just chciken wire. Hope this helps

Both of those sound huge! I think they would be great for two bunnies.

mcb, you really don’t need to know what you’re doing with a hammer to use one – just keep your fingers and bunny ears out of the way !! LOL

If you have a tiny bit of imagination and motivation, and the 2 cages are still looking good, you could always put the 2 hutches side by side, or back to back, (or however you like) and cut a hole in each to make a ‘door’ (a hole) through. You don’t have to be very good at it and especially if they’re indoor rabbits you won’t have to make it predator proof, you just need to make sure the 2 hutches are joined together.

I did exactly this. I put one hutch on top of the other and so mine could jump from the ground floor up to the 1st floor, I cut a hole in the roof of the bottom hutch, and a hole in the floor of the top hutch. Just measure once and then AGAIN to make sure the holes line up!

But by joining the hutches side by side could be good too, making a hole between the two, and you get a double-sized cage ! magic !! LOL

                    Just a thought !

If you still want to buy one of the ones that you’ve cited, they seem huuuuge. (and that’s from someone who has got a bun weighing 6kg!)
78 inches long? That’s TWO metres ! Lucky Lucky buns !! (I’m presuming you have a flat wall in your house long enough to put it up against !!! LOL)
