Hi all! Doodle is my 12 week old lion lop. He gets a lot of exercise time and I’m just about to gradually start him on greens. An issue I have with him is that, no matter how hard I try, he will not sit still long enough from me to groom him! He will run away at the feeling of the wire brush on his fur, no matter how many treats I distract him with. His fur is really long and he’s starting to look a bit scruffy! Same goes for his nails. He’s very hyperactive and jumpy. Does anyone have any suggestions? I sort of want to give in and schedule a grooming appointment with a vet, but I wanted to make at least an attempt.

I have two rabbits with very different natures – one is active and one isn’t but also doesn’t like being handled. I go to a room they don’t normally go to, aka a new territory, and I put them on my lap whilst I’m seated on a small chair. They stay on my lap because they’re not sure where they are and they’re not too close to the floor. It’s still difficult to get to their backside, and one rabbit’s tummy is impossible, but I was easily able to do their nails and give them a good brush.

My buns really hate grooming, and especially nail trims too. For grooming, I need to put them on a table. There is no way they would ever let me groom them with the option to hop away. Just sit him on a towel on a table or counter. But make sure to not leave him unattended. Have all your stuff ready beforehand.

For nail trims, I use the 2 person method. I get my husband to hold him baby burp-style and I grab each foot and clip. I only do 2 feet per day since they find it so stressful.
