So we just moved into a new place last night. Whisky seems to be coping pretty well, she comes out of her cage and hops around the bunny-proofed living room, comes up the stairs to chill with the dog and see what I’m doing in my office, eats normally, litter box habits are thankfully still there, etc. But when I came down to let her out of her cage this morning, I saw that she’d pulled a bunch of her fur out. No bald spots, more like shedding, but she wasn’t doing this prior to the move.

I have a couple of theories…but just want to make sure there’s nothing I should be watching out for. I’m guessing part of this is because the new house is about 8ºF warmer than the old house, so she’s suddenly a little too hot. And I’m also guessing this might be a nesting thing due to the change? She’s not spayed yet (on the agenda for this winter, she’s almost 1.5 years old, which I know is way longer than I should have let her go…).

So is this normal? I just want to make sure!

I am no bunny expert… I’m actually quite new to the forum and owning a bunny but my older sister had 2 rabbits and her female did this when she wasn’t spayed. At around 1 years old she started nesting and the vet told her it was due to pseudo pregnancies. I don’t recall her doing that after she was spayed though. Hope this helps…

Sounds like a false pregnancy (nesting). Not sure if this can brought on by stress or not. Someone else might know. I don’t think she would pull fur out due to the temperature.
