One of my rabbits got fixed last week and I tried to put the two buns together often so the bond wouldn’t break but the older bunny (the one who wasn’t spayed) Tried to keep humping the younger one who was recovering and hurting her so I had to keep them apart, and now the older bunny tried to lunge and attack whenever I put them together again. I have put them in the bathtub to try and fix the relationship but the recovering bunny is just terrified of the older one and keeps thumping her foot and growling. I don’t know what to do. Should I keep them separated longer or should I continue trying to bond them? They’ve been bonded for a year with no problems up until now. It would be such a shame to have to keep them apart.

Since the bond is already broken you need to allow your fixed bunny to heal and rest completely. I would keep them apart for a couple of weeks, then start over with the bonding process. You could use a surrogate stuffed toy with the fixed bunny’s scent on it to hang out with the other one, just as a reminder. Once you get the other one spayed, you will have them both ready a month after that. Then try again. It would be better to let them calm down than continue making the first one fearful. If you’re definitely getting the second one fixed, wait until that is completely done with time to heal before starting bonding again. They will probably get along once more after that.

I agree. I would use this time apart to give them a break. Sometimes bunnies need breaks and you’ll have better luck if both bunnies are done and healed.

Agreed. Also with fixing the second bun and giving both time to heal before starting the bonding process again.
