Okay so, i’ve had my lil bun for 4 years (and he will be 4) this coming Feb. Throughout owning him i’ve always noticed a bit of discoloration through his fur which was normal. But today, i noticed he literally has a ring of darker fur on his neck/back side. He has one very dark one (which is provided in the link) and a lighter one that I can see with my eyes on the other side – the camera couldnt pick it up unfortunately. His fur is extremely thick so its hard for me to check his skin. The only way i could was to blow on his fur to open it up, lol, and so far everything looks clear and white as it should. His fur seems to only be discolored at the tops though. I just never seen this before on Coal, and I wanna make sure he’s okay cause he’s my best friend, lol. Here’s a photo, ( the link is safe. )

Any help or insight would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you!

That’s really odd. If there was sth wrong, I think you’d see some irritation of the skin in the area. But if the skin is white and soft and all normal, and he’s acting normal (not scratching himself excessively on the spot f ex), I think you should just observe it and if it develops into sth – like if the skin gets red and/or scaly, there’s hair-loss and/or “dandruff”, it’s likely to be either a parasite or a fungal infection that needs treatment. But the symptoms are not consistent with either so far.

We’ll be very happy for updates on this.

Yeah, he seems to be acting like himself. It just threw me off a little and i wanted opinion! The only thing odd with him lately, is his poop is very soft. But that usually only happens when he has a treat (which we don’t feed him anymore since we noticed this) but i think my sister may have given him one this week. Other than that he’s himself and everything seems okay. I’m going to be keeping a close eye on it though.

It’s interesting, I’ve never heard of it before. If you find out what it is – if it is something other than his personal genetic make up – I’d be very interested to hear about it.

Have him tested for ringworm. Symptoms aren’t always consistent.
