        hey guys,
so i forgot my password and username to my previous account, but this week has been crazy. my rabbits name is theo he should be turning 3 in December. ive had him since he was a lil boy. well at the beginning of last week i noticed theo wasn’t doing too well! he wasn’t eating or pooping and was not very active. so I felt his stomach he was bloated and i could tell he was in pain. off we went to the vet they gave him some fluids that his skin was supposed to absorb ? then some meds to syringe feed him throughout the week. he was improving very well until about 2 days later he started acting funny, I felt his stomach and could tell he was bloated again. i didn’t want to take him to the vet again cause I was hoping the meds would work and they did. he was all good until this morning. I have been giving him meds morning and night all week until this morning I went down to give him his meds he wouldn’t take them! I tried everything but he wouldn’t swallow so I made an appointment for today. we took him in about 2 hours after I found him like that (they couldn’t get me in sooner) and they said he was very badly constipated. he was very weak and was limp they put on oxegyn loaded him up with medicine and the vet said it was very serious. it was one of the worst cases he’s seen. so we started home he seemed to be moving a little bit. we pulled up into the driveway and I knew something was up….. my little boy was going. he started gasping for air and he went completely limp in my arms. theo was honestly one of the best things to happen to me. he was my first rabbit and I loved him honestly more than anything. i just wish i had more time with him. ? i know it was in Gods plan for it to be like this. our vet recommended to help, is to get another rabbit she said we need to get our mind off of things. I’m going to be trying to get a little girl next week that I’m very excited for. i know no one can replace the love I had for theo but i just hope this new rabbit will make me as happy as I was when I was with theo! <3

thanks for reading this! i know it’s pretty long.

So sorry for your loss – it sounds as if you did everything you could have to help him
Yes a new rabbit will help. It won’t make you forget Theo but it will help you move on quicker.
            The pain will get better.

Did you get an actual diagnosis to rule out anything contagious ?

For myself I’d be sterilizing the pen and anything else I was able too and replacing the toys, bedding, litter box etc.

Perhaps other members have suggestions. I’m paranoid so I’d still do what I wrote, it may not be necessary, only for my peace of mind.

I am changing out the litter box, keeping the bedding, and throwing out the really used toys. i sterilized most everything like his cage the floor where he peed (anywhere he peed) then sweeper everything up. i do have the rabbit living in the basement on cement so I made him a playpen with boxes surrounding it bcuz I don’t want him roaming the basement. should I keep the boxes or throw them out.

yeah! im really not ready to lose another rabbit. so i will probably be wiping down most everything. (try to get new boxes) It’s just that my parents are divorced and I have to go with my dad evryother weekend. and the rabbit is coming Monday + I have tons of homework bcuz I’m getting ready for a big test in school idk if I’ll have time to do all that in 2 days. maybe for a short period of time i could keep him/her on the other side of the basement till I get everything cleaned up.
