You may have seen me mention before how i found this and fell in love http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.bunnybasics.net/images/QS004_2-300.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.bunnybasics.net/ferplast-cage-pen-park-p-1170.html&h=300&w=335&sz=55&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=iDYvHKZ0H3cdKM:&tbnh=107&tbnw=119&prev=/images%3Fq%3Droom%2Bwith%2Ba%2Bview,%2Bbunny%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN but the buggers had sold out and i couldnt find anywhere else that did them, or anywhere near similar, I was all set to get the Terrible Two a plain wooden dog kennel, or a cat house for christmas (albeit early).  2 weeks back I asked our maintenance man here at work how easy something like that would be to make myself, he took the picture away with him & said he'd have a think.  Thought no more of it, he's just come in, asked me if i'd managed to buy one yet, led me to his van.......

HOW shocked was I?!!!  I could kiss him, 'cept i have really bad tea breath today and no minty fresh gum!  ARGHHHH!

i think i like it even more than the orginal one.

reminds me... now my husband does not ADORE RABBITS like WE ADORE RABBITS.  he thinks they're good pets.  he likes Meadow, but he's not posting on any rabbit forums or showing bunny pics to his co-workers.  he's very tolerant of my devotion tho.  so imagine my surprise when we had decided that we were getting a bunny this summer, and my husband, unbekownst to me, made a wood bunny house at work.  it's not a finely crafted piece... but it does the job and Meadow loves it!  she spends as much time on top of it as she does on it!  it was just one of those occasions where a small gesture showed how much he really cared.  he didn't have to do that.  we could've bought one... but he took the time to make one himself.

i hope you showed your appreciation suitably!! lol You have a lovely hubby! Mine thinks he "does do his bit/fair share", but ive yet to see him clean them out, or pick the dandelions, or cut up their veg lovingly everynight. Or in fact pay their vet bills, never mind get round to lovingly craft a wooden homestead!! :-)

How fantastic!  I'm so excited for you, and equally as impressed by his handiwork!  This is a gorgeous playhouse and next, I'd love to see pics of buns in it!  Congrats...you are obviously deeply loved.

Wow that is amazing. I just took the laptop in to my boyfriend in the other room and said "Scooby wants one of these to play in on the porch. K Thanks." He said he would try to build something similar....I guess we shall see. I live in a condo that is on the 3rd floor but we have quite a large screened in porch. Being that we live in Florida I am hoping that the weather will get nice soon so that Scooby can go out there and play. That would be great to have on the porch for him to be able to play in.

That is a great story to top off a great day! Hats off to you for sharing it with us! MStewart I had quite a chuckle and when I saw that amazing hand-crafted bunny playhouse I thought, hmm, how can I make me one of those and do I have the wood.

Have Bean and Bum tried it out yet? You'll have to show us some pics of them having fun in their new custom designed home!

I'll take some pics tonight! The Bum loves to sit at the bottom of the steps chewing it, whilst looking on at Weeny Bean as she buggers about inside (I've put one of their floor cushions inside until I get a nice toasty cat bed). It's next to our bed, and after 2 very interrupted nights sleep we know Bean uses it. She uses the steps to get up onto the bed, leaps about trying to find a hand for a head rub, and as i found out this morning, if she doesn't trot about enough to wake me up she chomps my arm until i do take notice of her. Then to get back down again, she leaps from the pillow over onto the top of the house, and off down the steps. Brian just spends his night on the cushion at the bottom of the steps scrabbling at it until I put my arm down to head rub him, and if i stop before HE'S had enough, he'll continue to scrabble until he gets the hand again.
i got some free samples of Flotex flooring sent to me from their website last week, so tonight I may to work "laying their flooring", fake laminates, mosaics, oooooh to choose to choose!!!! Might even make them a little parsley tree to go "out on their balcony"..i know, such a sad life!!!!

Hey Spacehopper, do you have the pics we can see? I can't wait and am just antsy to see them.  It just might inspire me to work in the woodshop over the weekend.

The Bum really is not amused at having to climb all those goddamn steps just to get at an already half eaten dandelion stick treat!  Hes even less impressed at discovering the manky offering & realising he now has to get back down.

lol... good that he tried it out at least!  quite an impressive bunny condo that is!  my bun will not be lured by anything into / onto anything.  she MIGHT check out new things i construct for her amusement IF she happens to feel like it.  but she's VERY busy you know!  the phone book will not rip itself up after all.

I love the one of him climbing the steps. Maybe you could make it a ramp instead. I know that Coney LOVES his ramp.

Ah ha, I see that Brian has perfected the "boodles" pose - as he looks down at the predicament he has gotten himself into and says "BOODLES!" Thats what Raymond says when he gets himself stuck by leaping onto his litterbox roof and then realizing that he cannot balance because its a dome, nor can he jump off because its quite high

HAHAHA! Well, Brian sure is braver than my big silly white bunny Jack. Jack would stay up there all day with a sour puss on his face, but he woudn't dare try those steps.

Thought I would let you know.. I went to bed early last night, the other half came in at about 11pm and as men do made sure he woke me up, turning on lights, jangling coins in pockets etc etc, I grunted to let him know he had been successful in my awakening, and then through the darkness he whispered, "Brian's on his house, he's sat up on the top eating his thing", awwwww my boy!! Turns out that i hadn't been imagining the treaty bar getting smaller and smaller, but I never saw either of them venture up the steps to the top. A bit like children awestruck at the elusive Santa eating the mince pie & drinking the sherry...it was just a matter of CATCHING HIM OUT!!!

I am quite amazed that I also managed to catch the two of them "apart", or as apart as they are likely to get, where one goes, the other follows, when one sleeps, the other passes out next to..etc...seems the chewed up cushions have their upsides...spot the Bean!!!...
