My sweet sweet rescue dog of 15 yrs, cross labrador lurcher crossed the rainbow bridge this morning in my arms at the vets.
Kyra brought so SO much joy to my life over the past 14 years, as i know all you animal lovers are so aware.
I made the decision last night after she looked at me with knowing eyes as she couldn’t get up from her sleeping position.
It is such a sad, sad day and i know time will heal, but right now i tell myself she’s up there running around, wagging her tail and making lots of new friends.
Thank you for your virtual support. It means a lot.

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear this! She had a long and happy life with you – that’s the best gift we can ever give our beloved pets, and she got it from you. I’m sure you made the right decision, though I’m also sure it was a very difficult one to make. Lots of virtual hugs for you!

Thank you RBB, yes. It’s incredibly hard having to make the decision alone. At least in a couple or a family it can be discussed and agreed on (or maybe not…..?!). Alone its the hardest thing i’ve ever had to do, and even by calling friends, they say “only you can tell sweetie….”, so anyhow, it’s over now and time to move on. When i’m back on my computer i’ll pop a photo of her on here so you can share her gorgeousness. :o)

Vienna, I’m so sorry. I read about Kyra in the chat-thread but wanted to write sth here as well. It must have been very hard to have to take that decision yourself. She really was gorgeous. It seems like you had the best life together.

Kyra was a beautiful dog and I’m sure she’s going to be very much missed. It sounded like you loved her a lot and I know how hard it is to have to say goodbye.

It is very difficult to decide the last heart beat of a best friend, yet you read her look and knew the significance of it. It would be awesome if they could live as long as we do, alas they can only be a part of our life. You both were fortunate to share such a profound love and connection.

I saw the pictures in the chat thread, beautiful, happy and content puppy. I hope you feel better soon

One year today my best friend, a four-legged one, left a gaping hole in my life and my heart – I haven’t really recovered.

There is an absolute and undescribable joy of having a dog in one’s life. Until I have that again I know I won’t feel the same.

                      Here she is…

Ah what a sweet face! And wise eyes. I don’t believe I was participating in Chat thread myuch at the time so I hadn’t seen the pics of her. Just some more recently with Tisha. Beautiful dog!
I bet it doesn’t feel like it’s been a whole year. xx

She really was so lovely, Vienna. Those soul searching eyes… I bet she and Tisha are breaking hearts and taking numbers at the rainbow bridge. *hugs*

She was beautiful, Vienna. I hope she’s playing with my bridge dog Nala now. (Nala didn’t like other dogs but I’m sure 8 years in dog-heaven must’ve mellowed her.) You never really stop missing a dog that has been like a part of you, I think.

I’m very sorry She was such a beautiful dog. Bam is right that you never stop missing them, a special friend always holds such a special place in the heart. I know you may not want it to, and it may not seem like it, but the pain will get easier with time.

No, you never do stop missing them and it seems you never fully heal from the loss either. I’m sorry Vienna.
