Hi I’m getting a 3 month old rabbit and I have done my research but I just want to know for sure that what I’m giving her is right…
she should get 1 table spoon of pellets a day (I’m going to half that so she has one half in the morning and the rest in the afternoon)
She should have a portion of hay (the size of her) a day
and she should get vegetables but I don’t know how much should she get it twice a day?

        Also is this correct?

Pellets are based more on weight, than age. A 3mo flemish giant needs much more than a 3mo netherland dwarf for example, because the 3mo flemish will weight several times as much as the 3mo netherland dwarf. Also, 3mo is still young and growing so more pellets than you would give an adult is fine. It is important to continue giving the same pellets and if you want to switch, do so gradually by mixing small amounts into the brand you want to change to.

Vegetables should be introduced carefully, slowly, and gradually over time. start with a small amount of one kind, like a single leaf of romaine, see how it goes for a couple of days, then increase it.

Hay should be unlimited. Also, at such a young age, it should still be alfalfa. Later, you should switch to one of the grass hays: timothy, cheapest and easiest to get, but most likely to cause human allergies; orchard; meadow.

            Congrats on your new addition!

I would personally feed more pellets than that, she’s still young and growing. A lot of people feed unlimited pellets until around 6 months or so (although of course if the bun is a little pig you’d have to limit them). Hay should be unlimited. Veggies must be introduced very slowly (like 1 new veggie every week or so) and in small amounts to prevent an upset stomach. But of course every bun is different and diets will vary.

Okay thank you this was really helpful my rabbit is a mini lop so they will give her more pellets and slowly introduce her to vegetables but I’ve already bought normal hay will this be okay for the time beings and when that runs out I will by Alfa?

You don’t really need alfalfa hay as well as pellets, so don’t worry about it if you don’t already have some. It’s just easier to keep them on grass hays, since they can be a bit of a pain to swap off of the more tastier alfalfa hay when they get older.

And it doesn’t matter if you give salad twice a day or once a day. I think most give once a day, but my guy gets twice a day…just dividing the daily amount into two smaller servings.
