Hey all, I’m new here and I have 2 male bunnies. One I’ve had for a few months and the other only one. They are both still not neutered (haven’t had the finances just yet) and I’m a new owner. I now know you cannot pair male bunnies right away. My new boy Snicker attacked my boy Jumperoo and injured him. At this point, I’m afraid that even after neutering them, they will still hate each other. Snicker really does not like Jumperoo. I do not want to just get rid of him but I don’t what else to do. None of my friends want him either. Should I bring Snicker to a shelter? He is very aggresive while Jumperoo is a complete sweetheart. It hurts me to do it but I will not have the money to neuter them both right away. Please help, I don’t know what is best for Snicker. My boyfriend and I found him at a pet shop and he was all alone, biting his paw in depression. We wanted a female but after seeing him so lonely, we decided to give him a chance. Unfortunately, he is so dangerous to Jumperoo and we are lost. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Right now, they are both separated, but every time Jumperoo even gets near the cage, Snicker tries to bite him through it.

Keep them separated until they are neutered and provide a barrier so the bunny out for free time is not injured through the fence.

Yes, you need to separate them until they can be neutered and a month at least has passed. Hopefully you can then start to bond them. It’s not possible to say if two neutered bunnies can be bonded, but there are people here who have done difficult but in the end successful bondings. That two unneutered males can’t be bonded is really rather possible to say: They can’t. They will fight and the risk is one or both die/s from the injuries.

Have the aggressive one neutered first if you can’t have both done at the same time. It sounds like he needs it most since he’s had a stressful life until you saved him from the pet store. I feel so sorry for him, that he was gnawing at his own foot in the store. He’s probably to be regarded as a special-needs bunny. I’m glad you gave him a chance, I’m so sorry that it’s not going smoothly. But male intact rabbits do fight, it’s like what they do, so that per se is not abnormal at all.
