Two mornings ago, after his normal breakfast, Redford started behaving strangely quiet. He zoomed just one circle around the garden and then just got himself up against the wall in the corner. I had really busy day so I thought he was just scared since neighbors dog was passing by (cos that has been known to happen) so I got him inside, he looked around a bit and went to his cage and just sit there. I started being worried since he wasn’t interested in going out at all. He did eat but something was off so I rushed him to the vet and his tummy was blotted and his glens where swollen too but luckily since we got there in time his temperature was ok.
Vet said it looks like he eat something bad, and since we hadn’t changed anything in his diet it could be that he got something in the garden since people tend to throw things from balconies. So naturally it got me so angry I can’t explain.
He gave him some vitamins and antibiotic shots, and feed him something for his tummy. He also gave me that med. to take home and I gave him two more doses on 4h.
When we got home, he eat ok but didn’t won’t to tuch his hey unless I was giving him from my hand. So I was fiding him one strow at the time. But then he couldnt poop for 2h. And at that point he was even more swollen and at one point he just startet swaying and it looked like he couldn’t even get a breath.
I didn’t know what to do anymore, and by that time it was after midnight and vet was closed. I just lied there beside him, pet him and tried to massage his stomach so it would work. I could cry. Luckily after a while he got up to his litter and finally got things done. I cant explain the relief I felt. He even flopped after that.
Now he is on a antibiotics therapy but he started running around again (though I’m not letting him out for some time). He’s even interested in making mess again and I couldn’t be more happier, also eating good and pooping.

I’m so sorry to bother you with the whole story (with my bad English) I just had to share it with someone who could understand.

How awful, I’m so glad he finally pooped! What you describe about his swollenness sounds like a gas build-up, which is very common in bunnies that have tummy trouble. It’s very painful and it’s very dangerous if the gas don’t come out. I recommend you try and get some baby gas drops (simethicone) to have on hand in case gas should return. It’s a bunny safe med and can help break down big gas bubbles into smaller bubbles that are easier to pass. It’s OTC in most countries I think. It’s a med that I always keep in my bunny first-aid kit, because bunnies have sensitive tummies.

          Many continued-healing-vibes for your bun!

You are not bothering us with this story, of course.

Thx bam! I’m sure I can find that in pharmacy.
We are from Serbia but I’m sure I can find it.

And thx. again for understanding if nothing else.
I’m bit dyslexic so it’s hard for me to be sure did I express myself right trough writing. Even though I’m an archaeologists and passionate book worm ( as my bunny is too)

Btw. The horror of cuddling your bunny while he gives you kisses trough all his pain and knowing you cant help him is beyond words.

                Hugs xx

That is very scary. I’m glad he is doing much better now.

Thank you for sharing your story, I learned that I should get some simethicone in the house for Willow just in case.

Well if nothing I’m glad that something good came out of it after all.

Btw. He gave me bunny but treatment part of the day yesterday. I thought he was feeling worse again but it appeared he was just angry on me for the morning shot vet visit.

And you couldn’t be more right. Also I couldn’t belive how happy I would be to see misplaced poop too. Lol

Bam, I saw you are on a vacation but if you see could you tell me if I got “right staff” and what is the dosage?

And here is a recovery (and middle of molting) bunny.

I’m so glad that your furbaby is ok now. He looks like he’s having a good snooze in that picture.

Thx. Q8bunny, and yes he does. That’s his 14-16 o’clock power nap in one of his favourite places.
                              He is just so predictable.

I’m not sure which is more cute, napping bunnies or awake bunnies ! Glad he is feeling better.

Clearly your bunny is not a fan of chewing baseboards !

I too should get some of this medication in the house, just in case.

Thx BunLuv and yes the struggle is real.

Far as baseboards go he still hasn’t been too interested in them. And I’m really hoping it’s gonna stay like that. But then again we all know how bunnies can easily change their minds.
