So I have this Holland lop bunny that is turning 4 months old next week and I’ve had him for 2 months now and our bond is not very good. He’s not scared of me but he doesn’t like me petting him unless he’s eating. He likes to follow me because he thinks I have food and I always use his pellets (from his diet) to try and form a bond with him. I’ve tried many ways but so far, the bond hasn’t improved for at least 1 month. Any ideas on what I should do? I know this is not really a bunny to bunny bonding question but I still need help with the bond with Mango (my bunny). If you have any suggestions, it would be appreciated it you shared your idea(s)! Thanks!

PS: I’m planning on neutering him when he’s 6 months old just for safety reasons.

          Hi there,

          I love the name Mango!

My bun was rather easy to bond with, but maybe you can just lay down on the floor, reading a book or listening to music or watching tv etc. put some pellets in your pocket and let the bunny sniff around/at you. The best thing is to let him come near you and he needs to gain trust that you will not do anything he will not appreciate.
My bunny needed to understand how nice it is to be pet haha. Now after 2 months he will jump on my lap to get cuddles and head rubs. But when I first got him he really didn’t understand what I was doing and hopped away every time I was trying to spoil him with pets.

          Good luck!

Ditto, Deem. Spend lots of time down as this level.
