Found a domestic mini Rex in the equipment barn at the park I work at. Literally NO CLUE how it got there, but we’re guessing someone dumped it. Used to show netherland dwarves in 4H but it’s been ages. Never had an indoor bun, so I figured whether this arrangement is permanent or temporary (I do have two beagles and two cats. YIKES!) I could stand to learn up on my indoor bunny keeping!

His name is Holden Hare because he is tender and sweet but seems to have an attitude problem. (not biting, thank god)

His set up isn’t ideal right now since he wasn’t exactly planned- he’s in a large dog kennel with a spare litter box and paper pellet litter with old cat bowls- best we could do for the moment since he wasn’t planned. He’s enjoying pellet, timothy hay, black berries, carrots and mulberry leaves. So far he’s just hungry and territorial over the food bowl. It’s going to be an interesting ride, even if he is just a foster. Will be reading these forums for advice!

Welome to the forums and thank you for taking him in! We’ll be happy to try and assist you =) Many of our members have dogs and/or cats + bunnies. A dog-crate often makes an excellent bunny cage. There are examples of bunny habitats made from dog crates in out habitat-and-toys section.

I too became an “accidental” bunny owner years back, I already had a dog when I found my stray Bam, so I can relate =)

Big Welcome to you!!!! Rex’s are wonderful and so full of personality! My first bun was a Mini-Rex and he was just the most charismatic little guy. I had him for 9 wonderful years.

Please post pics of your bun!

Welcome! We have a mini rex and she definitely has a unique personality. Don’t be surprised if your foster becomes a permanent. Bunnies have a way of stealing your heart.
