When i got lu, the girl at the pet store told is to get those salt licks for her. Ours came on a string. WELL lu has decided to eat the string and not the salt. She only chewed through it it looks like. I removed all the string from her cage but left the salt chunks. The string in question looked like a natural fiber twine kind of consistency. Bottom line, should i be worried? We got it in the rabit area so…

The string is hopefully and probably sisal, I’ve seen salt licks for pets that come on sisal string. That’s bunny safe.

The clerk at the pet store was just trying to make more money. Pet store clerks usually know very little about rabbit care. Salt licks aren’t needed for rabbits. It sounds like Lu only bit through the string, but even if she ate a tiny bit, it should be okay. Make sure that she eats plenty of hay.

I agree. Salt licks are unnecessary and bunnies generally don’t touch them anyway. I’m guessing the string they used is something that is (hopefully) safe for bunnies. It sounds like sisal, like Bam said. If that’s what it is, then she should be fine.
